Kenneth Clarke

... was one of 21 MPs from whom the Conservative whip was withdrawn in September 2019 after they supported an emergency motion to allow the House of Commons to undertake proceedings on the European Union (Withdrawal) (No. 6) Bill. This resulted in the loss of Boris Johnson's majority, causing him to call a general election.

The election was held on 12 December. Clarke stood down at the election, sitting as an Independent in the meantime (albeit on the Goverment benches). In September 2020 he was created Baron Clarke of Nottingham, of West Bridgford in the County of Nottinghamshire, making his maiden speech in the House of Lords on 28 September.
